The maximum Social Security benefit at age 67 -- the full retirement age (FRA) for most workers today -- is $4,152 per month in 2026, though expect that number to rise slightly in 2027. Beneficiaries who qualify for these checks take home nearly $50,000 in annual benefits, but few manage to do so.

You only need to check three boxes to earn the maximum benefit at 67. But it's a lot easier said than done. Even if you don't reach the largest checks, you can still leverage the factors discussed below to increase your monthly benefits.
