SIX Swiss Exchange is Switzerland's principal cash-equity venue, based in Zurich. Official share hours: open 09:00, close 17:30 CET, Monday-Friday except Swiss holidays. Local Zurich clock, not U.S. overnight 23/5. Fees TODO:VERIFY. Not advice.
Official Zurich clocks (CET on the SIX page)
Source: SIX Trading Hours under trading provisions on six-group.com, fetched 25 August 2026. The page labels times CET. Switzerland observes daylight-saving as Central European Summer Time in season; this profile does not convert the table to Eastern Time. Open Monday to Friday except Swiss public holidays. Exchange days are also clearing days. The Exchange may modify days and hours in special situations. Trading may be temporarily suspended for individual stocks or segments. See trading halts for the U.S. vocabulary; do not import LULD bands onto SIX. Official contacts list SIX Swiss Exchange Ltd at Pfingstweidstrasse 110, 8005 Zurich.
| Clock (official SIX page) | Time (CET as published) | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Trading day envelope | 06:00-22:00 | Pre-opening through post-trading, not all-day share matching |
| Clearing day | 08:00-18:15 | CCP/CSD forwarding window |
| Shares and investment funds | 09:00 open, 17:30 close | Auction 17:20-17:30; TAL to 17:40 on named share segments |
| ETF, ETSF, ETP (QDM) | 09:00-17:30 | Auction 17:30-17:35 |
| Structured products (extended) | 08:00-21:45 | Separate PVM segment, not the share close |
| U.S. overnight 23/5 | None on this venue | Not a U.S. NMS book; do not paste Dec 6 plans here |
Shares and investment funds open 09:00 and close 17:30, with an auction from 17:20 to 17:30. Blue Chip Shares and Mid-/Small-Cap Shares run Trading-At-Last until 17:40. Individual securities open at a random interval of up to two minutes. Orders entered before opening of a given issue are factored into the opening price. That is SIX's auction design, not a U.S. 9:30 a.m. ET cross. Do not write 09:00 CET as 3:00 a.m. ET on this page; conversion TODO:VERIFY for a named date because CET versus CEST and U.S. DST both move.
The 06:00-22:00 envelope is not continuous Swiss equities
A trading day lasts from 06:00 to 22:00 CET. That envelope includes pre-opening, opening, continuous trading, close of trading (with or without closing auction and Trading-At-Last), and post-trading. Continuous trading in shares is the 09:00 to close window, not a 16-hour matching engine. Post-trading after the share close is not a U.S. 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. late session and not overnight. Structured products with extended hours (08:00-21:45 CET) are a separate Price Validation Market segment. From 1 July 2026, SIX message 14/2026 extends Separate Trading Lines Equity Securities listed abroad to continuous trading 09:00-21:45 CET with no closing auction. That is a named segment change, not a 23/5 U.S. overnight book, and not the SMI cash close.
Bonds, rights, options, and sponsored funds have their own open/close rows on the same official table. This profile does not flatten them into the share clock. Fees, trading-guide tick sizes, and tariff numbers are TODO:VERIFY. None invented.
Not the U.S. overnight 23/5 tape
U.S. exchange overnight 23/5 is planned for 6 December 2026 on named NMS books (SEC/SIP/DTCC) and is not live as of 25 August 2026 ET. SIX is not in that plan. Do not paste Arca 4:00 a.m., IEX 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., NYSE Tape A queue-at-6:30, or Nasdaq 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. onto Zurich. A U.S. broker overnight window is ATS access, not a SIX session. This page names no brokers. Read pre-market trading as a U.S. glossary term; Swiss pre-opening from 06:00 CET is a local order-collection phase, not U.S. pre-market.
Peer cash venues in this hub - Euronext, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (Xetra), and the London Stock Exchange - are also local-timezone books. Compare like with like. The U.S. session hours 2026 hub is the U.S. tape. SIX belongs on the Zurich row.
History labels and what this page will not invent
Official company history: SIX has stood for innovation and stability since 2008, formed from a merger of financial-infrastructure firms. Official equities listing copy says since 1850 the Swiss Stock Exchange has been rethinking how public markets work, and cites 1996 as the year of a fully automated trading, clearing and settlement system for equity capital. This profile sets founded_year to null rather than pick 1850, 1993, 1996, or 2008 as a single integer. Do not invent a listing count, SMI weight, or CHF market-cap figure beyond a then-current SIX page.
An IPO on SIX is a Swiss listing process, not a Nasdaq or NYSE opening print. Position size is stop distance in shares: site example $10,000, 1 percent ($100), $1.50 stop, 66 shares, round down, on the risk calculator (crypto UI; treat the unit as shares, round down). PDT is not current U.S. law and was never a Swiss rule. The U.S. stock scanner is coming soon and is not live.
Trading-At-Last on named share segments is extra primary-market liquidity at the official closing price until 17:40 CET. It is not U.S. late session and not overnight. The 22:00 CET end of the trading day is post-trading, not 23/5 matching. Do not treat a structured-product 21:45 print as the SMI cash close. MIC XSWX is the Swiss cash book; do not mix it with U.S. Tape A, B, or C.
FAQ
What are official SIX share hours?
Opening 09:00, close 17:30 CET on the SIX trading-hours page, with a 17:20-17:30 closing auction for shares and investment funds. Monday-Friday except Swiss public holidays.
Does the 06:00-22:00 trading day mean shares match for 16 hours?
No. That is the exchange-day envelope (pre-opening through post-trading). Continuous share trading is the 09:00-to-close window.
Is SIX on the U.S. overnight 23/5 plan?
No. 6 December 2026 overnight is a planned U.S. NMS-exchange clock and is not live. SIX is a Zurich venue in CET as published.
Are SIX fees on this page?
No. Fees TODO:VERIFY against the then-current SIX tariff. None invented.
Should I read these hours in Eastern Time?
Read the official table in CET as published. Do not invent a converted ET grid here. Conversion for a named date is TODO:VERIFY because DST on both sides moves.
