Official TSE clocks
Source: JPX “Trading Hours & Trading Holidays for Domestic Stocks” at jpx.co.jp/english/equities/trading/domestic/01.html (hours page updated 4 November 2024; research lock 25 August 2026). The page prints morning 9:00 am–11:30 am and afternoon 12:30 pm–3:30 pm without a timezone label. This profile labels those stamps Japan time (JST) as in the lock. Orders are accepted from 8:00 am and from 12:05 pm. The board is closed Saturday, Sunday, national holidays, 1–3 January, and 31 December. The afternoon close moved to 15:30 from 5 November 2024. This page invents no other session, auction random, or after-hours book.
| Session | Start | End | Status |

| Order acceptance (morning) | 8:00 am | — | Live. Acceptance, not the 9:00 open. |
| Morning session | 9:00 am | 11:30 am | Live matching |
| Lunch (no matching) | 11:30 am | 12:30 pm | Scheduled break. Not overnight. |
| Order acceptance (afternoon) | 12:05 pm | — | Live. Afternoon orders from 12:05. |
| Afternoon session | 12:30 pm | 3:30 pm (15:30) | Live. Close extended 5 Nov 2024. |
Do not paste a U.S. early book onto TSE. NYSE Arca early is 4:00 a.m. ET. IEX pre-market is 8:00 a.m.–9:30 a.m. ET. TSE’s 8:00 stamp is order acceptance into the 9:00 Japan-time open, not Arca’s 4:00 a.m. match and not IEX System Hours. See pre-market trading and the U.S. session hours 2026 hub for the U.S. split. A 15:30 Japan close is not a 4:00 p.m. ET close.
Founding, legal name, headquarters
Source: JPX corporate profile at jpx.co.jp/english/corporate/about-jpx/profile/01.html (updated 1 April 2026). Founding date on that page: 1 April 1949. Trade name: Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. Headquarters printed there: 2-1 Nihombashi Kabutocho, Chuo-ku Tokyo 103-8220 Japan. Business line: financial instruments exchange market. This profile does not invent a listed-company census, a market capitalisation cutoff, or an IPO count. Marketing language on overview pages is not a current share count. If you need a listing total, re-count from the then-current JPX directory — do not copy a remembered overview line into a live figure.
TSE is the cash equity market object. JPX is the group operator named on the about page. Do not treat every JPX product (derivatives, TOKYO PRO MARKET, off-hours facilities not on the domestic-hours URL) as this cash session. HKEX runs a different Hong Kong-time spine with its own lunch and close. ASX runs a Sydney-time cash session. Frankfurt / Xetra prints 9:00–17:30 CET on its hours page; Euronext hours stay TODO:VERIFY. Those clocks are other venues. Do not merge them into one “Asia open” or “Europe open” candle and call it TSE. Board-lot and tick-size tables are not copied here; TODO:VERIFY those on the then-current JPX rulebook.
Lunch is not overnight, and 15:30 is the cash close
The 11:30 am–12:30 pm gap is a scheduled lunch on the JPX hours page. It is not a U.S. overnight session. U.S. exchange overnight 9:00 p.m.–4:00 a.m. ET is planned for 6 December 2026 on named U.S. books, subject to SEC, SIP, and DTCC — and it is not live as of 25 August 2026. That plan is not a TSE clock. Broker overnight access is ATS routing, not Tokyo matching. This page names no brokers as venues. Trading halts on TSE follow JPX rules; this page invents no halt counts and no VWAP print as an official close.
Afternoon matching ends 3:30 pm Japan time. Off-hours or proprietary after-hours products that are not on this domestic-hours page are not invented here. If a chart paints Tokyo names through a U.S. evening session, that tape is another venue or an ATS, not the JPX morning/afternoon table above. Index-options GTH on Cboe C1 is a different product; Cboe C1 equity-options GTH is TBA. Neither is TSE.
Fees, sizing, and what this page is not
Listing fees, trading fees, and market-data charges are TODO:VERIFY against the then-current JPX fee schedule. This profile invents none. Example sizing only: account $10,000, 1 percent risk equals $100. If the stop is $1.50 away, shares = floor(100 ÷ 1.50) = 66, round down, on the risk calculator (crypto UI; treat the unit as shares, round down). PDT is not current law. The U.S. stock scanner at /stock-scanner is Coming soon — not live, no subscription price on this page. This is not personalized advice.
This page is not a U.S. 4:00 a.m. early venue, not a 7:00 a.m. early venue, not exchange overnight, not 24/7, not a broker-hours table, not a listing-count database, and not a fee quote. It is the JPX domestic cash clock plus the 1 April 1949 founding and Nihombashi Kabutocho headquarters from the official profile.

Is the lunch break overnight trading?
No. 11:30 am–12:30 pm is a scheduled lunch. U.S. overnight 9:00 p.m.–4:00 a.m. ET is a different object, planned 6 December 2026 on named U.S. venues, not live, and not TSE.
How many companies are listed on TSE?
This page does not publish a listing count. Overview marketing is not a census. Re-count from the then-current JPX directory if you need a number. Do not invent one here.
Are TSE fees on this page?
No. Fees TODO:VERIFY. None invented. Check the then-current JPX schedule. This is not a broker-hours table.
Not financial advice. Trading stocks can result in loss of capital. Session times and the 1949 founding are from JPX pages as of the 25 August 2026 research lock and can change. Unknowns are marked TODO:VERIFY. Educational content from DennTech Trading Solutions.
