Official NYSE Arca clocks

Cite the NYSE Holidays and Trading Hours hub at nyse.com/trade/hours-calendars and the NYSE Extended Hours Trading FAQ (updated August 2026). All times Eastern. NYSE Arca is a separate NMS stock exchange from the NYSE Tape A listing market. Do not paste Tape A hours onto Arca. Founding year is TODO:VERIFY. Headquarters is TODO:VERIFY. Those fields are not printed as a founding-year or HQ line on the hours hub, about/model page, or FAQ used for this lock.

NYSE Arca Equities sessions, Eastern Time, as of 25 August 2026. Overnight is planned, not live.

The hours hub lists Arca pre-opening order entry from 2:30 a.m., queued until the Early Open Auction at 4:00 a.m. That queue is not continuous matching before 4:00 a.m. The locked Early Session start is 4:00 a.m. Core is 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Late then runs to 8:00 p.m. NYSE describes Arca as fully electronic, price/time, with primary listings for ETPs, trading in all NMS securities, and closing auctions in all NMS securities. This page invents no listing counts and no volume rank.

Overnight is planned 6 December 2026, not live

The August 2026 FAQ says NYSE Arca plans to introduce a fourth session, Overnight, from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., targeting 6 December 2026. That launch is subject to SEC approvals, SIP extended operating hours, and DTCC modernization. As of 25 August 2026 it is not live. Do not write Arca as 23/5 or 24/7 today. A markets-page banner may advertise 23/5 Extended Trading Hours; a banner is not a live matching clock. The planned envelope includes a one-hour pause 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. That pause is part of the plan, not a current live gap you can trade through on Arca.

The FAQ is explicit: the Overnight Session will not begin with an auction. Continuous trading is the planned 9:00 p.m. start. The first auction after that window remains the existing Early Open Auction at 4:00 a.m. Do not invent an overnight cross or a 9:00 p.m. auction clock. Off-core prints are a different sale-condition problem from Core last sale. See pre-market trading and the U.S. session hours 2026 hub.

Arca is the 4:00 a.m. book, not the 7:00 a.m. book

If a chart’s pre-market starts at 4:00 a.m., Arca is one of the venues that can actually match that early. Nasdaq and Cboe BZX/EDGX also list 4:00 a.m. early. NYSE American early starts at 7:00 a.m., not 4:00 a.m. IEX Pre-Market starts at 8:00 a.m. NYSE Tape A has no continuous early session: orders queue from 6:30 a.m. into the 9:30 a.m. auction. Mixing those clocks into one candle is how traders invent a 4:00 a.m. market that their own destination never joined.

Late to 8:00 p.m. is live on Arca. That is not IEX (Post-Market ends 5:00 p.m.) and not Tape A NYSE. A 7:15 p.m. Arca print is not an IEX print and not a Tape A primary-list print. Same symbol, different venue clock. Trading halts in Core still follow LULD and news-halt rules; this page invents no halt counts. Index-options GTH on Cboe C1 is a different product; Cboe C1 equity-options GTH is TBA. Neither is Arca equities.

Fees, sizing, and what this page is not

Maker/taker is the usual structure on electronic NMS books; the actual rebate and fee numbers are TODO:VERIFY against the then-current NYSE Arca price list. Do not paste an old schedule here. Access, connectivity, and market-data charges are likewise TODO:VERIFY. Example sizing only, not a trade: account $10,000, 1 percent risk equals $100. Stop $1.50 away. Shares = floor(100 ÷ 1.50) = 66, round down, on the risk calculator (crypto UI; treat the unit as shares). PDT is not current law. The U.S. stock scanner is Coming soon — not live, no subscription price. A broker overnight window is ATS access, not Arca overnight, and this page names no brokers as venues.

This page is not a live overnight book, not a 7:00 a.m. American clock, not Tape A hours, not a broker-hours table, not an ETP ranking, and not a fee quote. It is not personalized advice. Session times can change; unknowns stay marked TODO:VERIFY.

The 2006 NYSE, Archipelago, and Pacific Exchange merger is not a founding year. Founding remains TODO:VERIFY. Other NYSE Group equities stay on their current hours; they are not copied onto Arca overnight.

FAQ

Does NYSE Arca open at 4:00 a.m.?

Yes. The Early Trading Session is 4:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. ET, with an Early Open Auction at 4:00 a.m. Order queueing from 2:30 a.m. is not matching before 4:00 a.m.

Does Arca already trade overnight?

No. Overnight 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. is planned for 6 December 2026, subject to SEC, SIP, and DTCC. It is not live as of 25 August 2026. There is no overnight auction in the plan.

What is the 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. pause?

A planned one-hour break in the future overnight envelope. It is part of the 6 December 2026 plan, not a live session you can trade on Arca today.

Is Arca the same clock as NYSE Tape A or NYSE American?

No. Tape A has no continuous early session. NYSE American early starts at 7:00 a.m., not 4:00 a.m. Arca’s locked early start is 4:00 a.m. and Arca has a live late session to 8:00 p.m.

Are Arca fees, founding year, or headquarters on this page?

No. Fees TODO:VERIFY. Founding TODO:VERIFY. Headquarters TODO:VERIFY. None invented. This is not a broker-hours table and not personalized advice.

Not financial advice. Trading stocks can result in loss of capital. Session times are from NYSE hours and FAQ documents as of 25 August 2026 and can change. Unknowns are marked TODO:VERIFY. Educational content from DennTech Trading Solutions.

Key Concepts for NYSE Arca Users

Pre-Market & After-Hours Trading
Pre-market trading occurs before the official NYSE/NASDAQ open (9:30 AM ET) from 4:00-9:30 AM ET, and after-hours trading occurs from 4:00-8:00 PM ET after the close, both featuring lower liquidity, wider spreads, and price discovery driven primarily by earnings announcements and breaking news.
Circuit Breakers & Trading Halts
Circuit breakers are automatic, exchange-mandated trading pauses triggered when market prices decline by predetermined thresholds, while trading halts are discretionary or regulatory pauses in individual securities due to pending news, volatility, or technical issues.
VWAP (Stocks)
VWAP (Volume-Weighted Average Price) is the average price of a stock weighted by trading volume over a specified period, typically the current trading day, used by institutional traders as a benchmark for execution quality and by technical traders as a dynamic support and resistance level.
Level 2 Quotes
Level 2 quotes display the full depth of the order book for a stock — all outstanding bid and ask orders beyond the best inside bid and ask, showing the price and size of orders at multiple price levels across all market makers and electronic venues.
IPO — Initial Public Offering
An Initial Public Offering (IPO) is the process by which a private company first offers shares to the general public on a regulated stock exchange, raising capital and enabling founders, employees, and early investors to achieve liquidity for their ownership stakes.
